What versions of FileMaker Pro are supported?

Currently, we support FileMaker 6, FileMaker 9, FileMaker 10 and FileMaker 11. Both pro and advanced versions are availble. If your solution requires other versions of FileMaker, please contact the sales department for details.

What versions of FileMaker Server are supported?

Currently, all hosted files are using FileMaker Server 11 or Server 11 Advanced running on Windows Server 2008 R2. If you require any other versions of FileMaker Server, please contact the sales department.

I already have my own licences of FileMaker Pro , can I use them?

No, for Citrix hosting clients under 25 users, we do not support bring your own ( BYO ) licences for FileMaker.

How do I install FileMaker client plugins?

Because all Citrix users share the same installed copies of FileMaker Pro, and because of the multiple server redundancy of our Citrix farm, all solutions requiring plugins must use the auto-update feautre built into FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server. This allows each user to have thier own unique plugins installed. You will need scripts to run every log-in to check for plugins and to register them via script. Plugins requiring registration files are not supported and manual registration is discouraged because of the multiple redundant Citrix servers you will be randomly assigned. We will require your plugin .zip and .tar files properly configured. We will install them onto the same FileMaker server as your files. You will also need to include scripts in your solution to check for, and install plugins into your Citrix session. Please review the FIleMaker Server 10 guide to updating plugins. If you require assistance preparing your plugins or scripts in your solution, we recommend contacting one of the companies on our affiliates page to help you."

My outbound SMTP email is being blocked. How do I send email?

For security reasons, outbound SMTP traffic is blocked by default. Contact us with the SMTP server you will be sending your email through, and we’ll add an exception to the perimiter firewall.

Why can my solution not connect to a POP/IMAP mail server to receive mail?

Can my Citrix session connect to other FileMaker Servers across the internet?

By default, outbound TCP port 5005 ( FileMaker connections ) is blocked at the firewall. If you require connectivity to an external FIleMaker Server, please contact support at Nimbus Hosting.

How can I access the INETPUB /WWW or FileMaker Web Publishing directory on my FileMaker Server?

Direct unattended access to non dedicated VLAN server is not allowed. Custom HTML pages, images, or changes to HTML/IWP pages must be either forwarded to Nimbus Hosting along with specific installation instructions, or an assisted remote control session can be scheduled with Numbus Hosting staff.

How do I download copies of my backups?

We will be supplying FTP access to backups initially and eventually adding a web portal for that and other file management. If you require a copy of your backups, please contact us.

Can I run on-demand backups of my files?

We are working on a dashboard interface that will support this task.

I need to schedule server side scripts. How is this done?

Server side scripts will be added to the client dashboard in the future. If you require scripts to be enabled, please contact support staff with detailed information on what scripts to run in which files and at what intervals. Please test your scripts carefully before deploying. Scripts that become resource hogs or degrade the performance of the server will have their sessions killed and may be deactivated if the issue is a regular occurance. The disconnecting of running scripts will be logged and you will be contacted with the reason for the disconnect.

How do I access my IWP sessions?

IWP sessions have been configured to use TCP port 0000. Access to IWP is licensed per user and accessed via VPN. Please view the FAQ on VPN client configuration.

Can I have my own custom domain name for my access?

Cusom DNS names (client.nimbushosting.net) can be supplied at a cost of $20/name/year. Please contact support if you would like this feature. This will be added to future self-service dashboards.

Can my web interface have a SSL certificate?

SSL certificates are available for a $100 annual fee. the please specify the subdomain you wish to use. SUBDOMAIN.NimbusHosting.net Domains will auto-renew and servers will be updated with renewed certificates when required.

Can I use my own SSL certificate?

Clients with dedicated servers can use their own SSL certificates. Please contact support for fees and options.

How do I add and delete citrix users?

Adding, deleting and changing users to your solution is currently handled by NimbusHosting.Net support staff. Our dashboard will give users the ability to add, delete and change application users. We will send out emails to all clients as dashboard features come online.

How do I enable active directory, single sign-on authentication.?

Integrated Active Directory single sign-on authentication is available for all hosted solutions. We will provide you with the Active Directory organizational unit to use in your FileMaker files for security. We can create multiple OUs for DEVELOPER, READ/WRITE and READ ONLY access to give your application flexability and security. Active Directory account names will be First.Last and in the case of duplicate entries, appended by numbers. My Citrix application is all speckled. What can I do to make it look better?

If you have monitors with extremely high resolutions or multiple monitors of high resolution and your citrix session is set for seamless mode, you will see this. To remedy this, you need to change your citrix session from seamless mode to a fixed resolution. At Logon.NimbusHosting.Net, log in and click on the PREFERENCES menu. Select SESSION SETTINGS and select one of the preset dimensions, full screen or specify a custom dimension if your FileMaker application was designed for a specific screen dimension.

How can I control the FileMaker Pro application window size?

For OS X users used to not having their FileMaker windows bound within an application window, this presents a new set of limitations. We recommend using SecureFM to accomplish this. There are other plugins that offer this feature. If you have experience with any, please let us know so we can share it with other users.

What are the password policies? My company has different policies, can we use them?

Password policies are 7 characters or longer and passwords change every 90 days. We will be adding custom policies as an available option in the future.

Why does my application freeze and crash during login/opening?

Make sure that all external file references are relative.

FileMaker immediately quits upon launching. What plugins are you using?

If you are using SecureFM and you're seeing this issue, please let us know. There is an OS setting that needs to be adjusted having to do with a DEP exception. We try and add the exception to every version of FileMaker Pro installed, but it's possible we missed one. Please contact support.

How do I install my citrix client?

Can I create and host a new file from within the NimbusHosting.Net infrastructure?

No. The current hosting environment is optimized for hosting existing solutions. Adding and removing files is not yet available. This is a feature we will be adding into our client portal. Contact support if you need files uploaded.

Can I access my solution using FileMaker Go or FileMaker Pro from the internet?

Yes. FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Go access to hosted solutions is allowed through a licensed VPN connection. Please see the FAQ for client VPN connection.

How do I configure my VPN client?

VPN access is available for iPhone, iPad, OS X and Windows clients. Individual accounts must be licensed per user.
